Tony Lamb and his family from the Frying Pan Ranch live a life that is straight out of a cowboy film: in their boots and hats, they ride horses across the prairie looking after more than one thousand head of cattle. They live near Amarillo, in north Texas. Besides the seemingly endless steppes, this region is also home to the second largest canyon in the USA: the Palo Duro Canyon with its red-brown cliff formations. When summer comes, the cowboys are particularly busy: they must brand the calves and bring the one-year olds to auction. In late summer, they separate the calves from the mothers. Tony and his family do all of this work on horseback. The absolute high point of the summer is the rodeo, in which Tony, his family and their friends all participate. The oldest ranches in Texas compete against one another in disciplines such as "Wild Cow Milking" or "Herd Separating". Tony's son, TJ even competes in the bronc riding contest. For him this has been a very special summer, as he became a father: a little cowboy was born on the ranch.
