Seychelles' North Island - Return To Paradise; Rechte: united docs

Searching for perfect happiness? It’s here on North Island. Tropical rainforests, granite cliffs, lonely beaches and warm waters – North has everything. The island is the most exclusive resort in the Seychelles. The guests on North stay in villas of wood and natural stone that are as large as castles and come with their own butler. There is a hardly any other spot on earth, where the underwater world is as diverse as here. And this is the real luxury of the island: its natural setting – a true paradise and seemingly untouched. Seemingly, because after the collapse of the coconut industry, the farmers living on North abandoned the island, leaving behind them an overgrown plantation and numerous non-native animals – with devastating consequences. Stubborn weeds choked local plants, pigs destroyed tortoise preserves. Then private investors stepped in, bought the island and embarked on a major nature protection project in order to return the Seychelles paradise to its former glory. The project is financed by an outrageously expensive luxury hotel. The film shadows guests and staff at the hotel, meeting well-heeled globetrotters, ambitious resort managers and local staff.
