The Côte d’Azur is for many a world of glitz and glamour, synonymous with film stars, luxury and holidays. But it is much more than this: it is also home to fishermen, artists, farmers and many others who live and work here all year around. We visited and got great insight into the everyday life behind the veiling facade, between the crowds of tourists in the heat of the summer and the serenity of the wet, cold winter. This is how we met fisherman, Jean-Michel Dami, who supplies the top restaurants of the region, the artist and potter, Elisabeth Brainos and patissier, Hervé Martinez. We also speak to Joseph Mul, boss of numerous flower pickers, like Kefiya from Tunisia, who harvest the jasmine blossoms for a worldrenowned and classic perfume. We also got to know Raymond, the waiter in the café “Le Safari” near the flower market in Nice. In summertime, he barely has any time for his children because he’s so busy at work; so he is all the more appreciative of the time he gets to spend with them during the quieter winter months.
