José Pintos, nicknamed Pepe, has been a gaucho since childhood. For the last six years, he has been living and working as the foreman on the “La Querencia” ranch in the Argentinean Humid Pampas. Here the pastures are fertile and the roads to the abattoirs of the capital city are comparatively short – two reasons that explain why cattle farming is practiced very intensively here. For a year now, Pepe has been helped by his eldest son, Sebastian, who left school after Year 9. The longing for the life of a gaucho was stronger than his will to study. We accompany father and son as they go about their daily work and watch as they drive the large herd, inoculate the animals and castrate the bulls. And we follow the further path of the animals from the cattle markets in Buenos Aires to the abattoir and the tannery where the skins are processed.
