The first half of this two-part series takes us to Galicia in north-western Spain, where we visit the "children's city" of Bemposta, the fashion empire of Amancio Ortega and the "Festas Patronais de San Roque" in Vilagarcia. Galicia is an unbelievably beautiful region: the fjords on the coast of the Atlantic offer a side of Spain which few know: wildly romantic – and often void of people. The second half of the series "Tradition and Progress" speaks for Catalonia, in the northeast corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Catalonia sees itself as an independent nation within Spain which has consistently suffered oppression throughout its history. The Catalan people refer to their own Catalan language and the ancient culture of their region as proof. This film leads us to the "Sagrada Familia" of architect Antoni Gaudi, the region of Penedès, where sparkling wine is produced, and to the human towers called "castellers".
