Malawi, a small and peaceful country in southeast Africa, is a land, where the spirits become alive. In the middle of the huge Lake Malawi lies the small island of Likoma. It is from here that the filmmaker sets out on his journey through northern Malawi. He meets exorcists and miracle healers with legendary powers. Is this magic or hocus-pocus? The miracle healers at least are not paid until their incantation has healed the patients. A woman who is almost 100 years old brews her own beer from maize, and the young men swear that her beer is as satisfying as a meal. Scientists too have made an exciting discovery on the shores of Lake Malawi: they found a 2.5 million year old mandible, the oldest human bone in the world. This is a fascinatingly diverse journey through the dream-like landscape of this southeast African paradise.
